East Midlands - West Midlands
Opened in 1804 and sometimes known as the Moira Cut, this completely level canal with no locks meanders through tranquil countryside from the edge of Coventry and into Leicestershire. It stays clear of settlements and major roads, providing a gentle and very tranquil walk that passes the historic sight of the Battle of Bosworth Field (1485).
A flat, easy walk. For information about sections with wheelchair access, contact British Waterways (below).
Stations at Marston Junction and Hinckley. Buses at Market Bosworth. The independent Battlefield Line Railway runs parallel to the route but currently offers only round trips from Shacklestone Station.
