Volunteering with our local Areas and Groups

Central to the Ramblers is our Area and Group network which is run entirely by volunteers. In our Areas and Groups, volunteers get involved because they want to share their love of walking and appreciation of the countryside with others.

Each Area and Group chooses how best to organise their work. This gives them a large degree of responsibility and autonomy which can make involvement in them extremely rewarding.

If any of these appeal to you contact your local group for more information. Use our Groups Finder to find your nearest group.

What can you do in your Area or Group?

Manage an Area or Group

Each Group and Area organises its work through a committee of volunteers - you could volunteer for one of the four key management roles.

Support your Area or Group

If committee work doesn't interest you, there are other ways to get actively involved as a volunteer. Opportunities include managing websites, editing newsletters, leading walks, campaigning to protect footpaths, and more.
