Area and Group consultation on Ramblers Walking Environment priorities in the coming years. Closing date: 30 April 2010. (Consultation / Action request - posted 3 March 2010)

Plans are outlined regarding the possible introduction of co-ordinated training for Walk Leaders. Each Group is invited to take part in a survey to determine the number of people who lead walks. This information will help inform planning. (Action request – posted 3 March 2010)

The Department of Communities and Local Government (CLG) is consulting on policy options for geographic information from Ordnance Survey, including government proposals to make maps such as Explorer and Street View free for use and re-use. The first of a series of updates from Ramblers Walking Programmes and Promotion team on our work to make walking accessible to all. Read about the success of our Department of Health-funded family walking pilot project in Barrow and how volunteers and staff and a great new website are helping Get Walking packs walk off the shelves.

Following the great success of Get Walking Day 2009 this is a request for Ramblers groups across the UK to put on a walk for Get Walking Day 2010. Get Walking Day 2010 will take place on the 23rd of May 2010. (Event - posted 22 January 2010)

The vast majority of Ramblers walks occur without incident. Occasionally, incidents do occur. Reported incidents have been analysed (Oct 08-Sept 09). Very occasionally an investigation may be required. The learning from one such investigation is presented as a case study. (News - posted 4 January 2010)
