Trustees Board publishes minutes

Especially relevant to: Area Chairs and Secretaries; General Council delegates, Agenda Committee members Posted: 30th September 2011 Summary: The Board of Trustees has decided to begin publishing its agreed minutes, starting with its meeting in July 2011. Although certain confidential information will be removed, the governing principle is one of openness, and exceptions are kept to a minimum.

From its meeting in July 2011, the Board of Trustees will be making available minutes of its meetings on the website, once they have been approved by the Board.

In the published versions, the following confidential information (unless otherwise already in the public domain) will be removed from the minutes, and the minutes renumbered accordingly:

• The appointment, promotion, dismissal and any other matters affecting the personnel affairs of individual members of the Ramblers, or individual members of staff
• Personal information relating to individual members of the Board of Trustees
• Commercially sensitive information
• Legally sensitive information
• Anything which the Chair, having consulted with the Chief Executive and Honorary officers, deems inappropriate for an open forum.

The governing principle of the Published Minutes is one of openness, and exceptions are kept to a minimum. The Chair will not enter into correspondence about excluded matters.

The July minutes are now available on the 'governance' pages of the website. A shorter bulletin from Board meetings is also published shortly after each meeting in the news section, and back copies are available here.
