Forum for those training volunteers
We are trying to get more training delivered to more volunteers and so to do this we want to increase the number of people who feel able to deliver the Walking Environment Induction Days. The first step of this will be to run a training forum day for Area or Group Officers who are looking to run, or are already running, training. There will be an opportunity to share ideas about what you are already doing as well as asking questions and finding out about the resources available from central office. If you would like to attend the day in September (exact date TBC) please get in touch with Ed Wilson, Volunteer Support and Development Officer at ed.wilson@ramblers.org.uk
Persuading those interested in the walking environment to join and stay with us
We’re all aware of the enormous amount of work done by the Ramblers to protect and improve the places where people walk, and whenever possible we try to tell other people about it. But are we as successful as we could be in encouraging people who support our work to join us, and once they have, to stay with us? This needs action at both a national and local level. If you have any ideas about what we could be doing to encourage more people to join to support our charitable aims on paths, access, and the countryside (and how we keep them as members thereafter) please let Adrian know – adrian.morris@ramblers.org.uk 020 7339 8524
Using Level Crossings Safely
Following consultation in 2010, the Office of Rail Regulation has produced a guide for users of level crossings entitled “Using Level Crossings Safely”. The guidance was produced because if was felt that the existing guidance in the Highway Code was inadequate. The booklet can be downloaded from the ORR’s website at: http://www.rail-reg.gov.uk/server/show/nav.1134
