We offer monthly walks throughout the year on Saturdays, intended as an introduction to rambling for newcomers, but open to all. The walks are led by Group members and are of about 5 miles in length using public transport from the City. The Co-ordinator would normally take part in all the walks. The role involves the identification of leaders and walk areas, documentation of the programme, and reporting to the Committee. Over recent years these walks have proved to be very successful and have been our main source of new members, as well as maintaining the “Walking for All” policy.

Birmingham Ridges and Tops Walk Co-ordinator (To find out more please click here.) Once a month during the summer months, we offer walks in the “Strenuous” category for those who enjoy the extra demands of walking in mountains and moorland. Access to appropriate areas is by mini-bus from the City for a full day on Saturdays. Walks are led by Group members with the appropriate level of experience. The Co-ordinator would normally take part in most of the walks. The role involves the identification of leaders and walk areas, documentation of the programme, organising the transport, and reporting to the Committee. Because participants need to apply to join the walks, the Co-ordinator also arranges booking forms and walk descriptions. The walks are popular with a small group of regulars, some of whom do not participate in any other Group activities, and offer an ideal opportunity for members to experience this category of walking.
