The Ramblers delivers a range of projects across England, Scotland and Wales aimed at getting more people of all ages walking more often for health, transport and pleasure, in towns and cities as well as in the countryside. This is in addition to our regular programmes of walks organised by local volunteers.
Our flagship Get Walking Keep Walking project is evolving beyond its original base in four big cities, with new members of the family establishing themselves in other parts of Britain including Durham.
Get Walking Day, our annual flagship walking awareness event in May, brings together Get Walking and our established local volunteers to run short walks across the country, helping thousands of people the opportunity to discover the pleasures and benefits of walking.
Between Summer 2010 and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games we'll be helping new walkers get active with a programme of Get Walking for the Games walks under the coveted 2012 Inspire brand.
Our Communities on Foot project runs in Wales while in Scotland we're working with the Active Nation campaign to get people in Scotland fitter in time for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
