Walkers are Welcome
The Ramblers supports the Walkers are Welcome network of towns and villages with something special to offer walkers.
Currently over 30 places in England, Wales and Scotland have achieved Walkers are Welcome status.
In order to win accreditation, Walkers are Welcome towns and villages have to show they meet the following criteria:
- Popular local support for the concept.
- Support by the local council
- Action to ensure the footpath network is in good condition.
- Adequate marketing to walkers.
- Encouragement of walking using public transport.
- Mechanisms in place to maintain Walkers are Welcome status.
