General Council
The Ramblers is a company limited by guarantee, and General Council is the body of people who are defined as company members for Companies Act and other legal purposes. Members of General Council are entitled to attend the annual general meeting, but remain company members at other times.
Our annual general meeting is commonly referred to as General Council.
General Council AGM 2024
The 2024 General Council annual general meeting (AGM) will take place on Saturday 20 April at the Birmingham NEC. The board of trustees has retained the previous year’s format and venue for 2024, and the AGM will be open only to Council members. The meeting will start at 10.30 am and will finish at 5pm. Information, documents and deadlines for the AGM will be published on this webpage.

As always, there will be opportunity for Council members to ask questions of the board and the executive leadership team at the AGM. However, Council members who would like clarification on any specific points or matters of fact in the meeting papers or the annual report and accounts ahead of the meeting are welcome to submit questions using this online form by Thursday 11 April.
A summary of the questions, with answers provided by the leadership team on behalf of the board of trustees, will be published on this page on Thursday 18 April (along with the amendments paper and the motions review committee report).

- 29 March - Deadline to send AGM notice and papers
- 16 April - Deadline for receipt of motion amendments and appeals
- 17 April - Deadline for receipt of proxies
