We've been working across Great Britain to secure access to land and protect paths for over 75 years. In Scotland we played a leading role in the passage of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003, which gives Scotland one of the best arrangements for public access in Europe.
We continue to campaign to protect the natural beauty of our countryside. This includes fighting to stop our precious wildland areas being destroyed by inappropriate developments. We also campaign for more path networks to encourage people to do more walking right from their doorsteps.
We were instrumental in the introduction of National Parks and long distance routes in Scotland. Most recently we helped bring about the extension of the Cairngorms National Park into Highland Perthshire.
Our Commonwealth Games Legacy Plan to promote walking throughout Scotland is helping the Scottish Government to achieve lasting physical activity legacy benefits from the 2012 Olympic and 2014 Commonwealth Games. We are recognised by sportscotland as a Scottish Governing Body of Sport.
