Where our money comes from

Members subscriptions are our biggest source of income and includes the repayments of tax which we can recover on those subscriptions paid under gift aid.

Another important source of income is regular grants from the Ramblers' Holidays Charitable Trust. The Trust is financed by Ramblers' Association Services. This is a commercial company which (through its subsidiary Ramblers' Worldwide Holidays) organises walking, mountaineering, skiing and sightseeing holidays, mainly outside Britain. The Trust generously supports the work of the Ramblers' Association. Much of our campaigning and other work could not be carried out without this support.

Our members give generous support by donations, responding to fund-raising appeals, buying raffle tickets and taking part in affinity credit card and insurance schemes.

Income from legacies is also very important.

See Support Us for more information.

Money is also raised from other sources such as project funding from various trusts, foundations and government agencies, and through commercial sponsorship of events and publications.
