Get Walking Keep Walking
Get Walking Keep Walking is a Lottery-funded project that helps people in big cities do more regular local walking to improve their health and well-being, based on a 12-week walking plan.
Programmes aimed at helping people follow the plan with led walks and other activities are taking place in Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield and five London boroughs, and a DIY version of the plan is being made available throughout England.
Walking Out in Sheffield
Ramblers volunteers lead regular short easy walks in or near Sheffield, all accessible by public transport and ideal for those new to walking or who have previously attended health walks.
Easy walks run by local volunteers
Many Ramblers Groups in England offer regular programmes of shorter, easier led walks and walks aimed at families.
Walks for visually impaired people
In some parts of England, Ramblers Groups work with visually impaired Groups to help visually impaired people enjoy the outdoors.
Events
Get Walking Day takes place on 30 May every year and is building into a major national awareness day for walking.
