A new addition to the Hike family

North Herts Young Walkers is probably one of the newest Ramblers 20 – 30’s groups. It has been around for a few years and it has been an interesting road for us to join the Ramblers.

So far we have wandered over vast areas of Hertfordshire and surrounding counties getting to know the local areas. We have also travelled to the Peak District, Snowdon, Bournemouth and Paris on very successful weekends trips full of surprises. We have held numerous social events, from meals to shows and other activities such as roller skating. We have even dressed up as pirates for a coastal walk and bemused the residents of Worthing. Why? Well, because we thought it would be a fun thing to do to celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Plans for the year ahead include improving links with other 20-30’s groups in surrounding areas. These groups have been established longer and there is much to be learnt from them. Over time this process will help create a more closely integrated network of younger walkers in our respective areas.

What does the North Herts Young Walkers future hold?

In the long term we hope to build on what has been learnt so far and develop even more interesting and diverse programmes of events. As we continue to build up our volunteer base the injection of new ideas will keep our events offering fresh and enticing, in turn encouraging new walkers to see what our group is all about.

If all goes to plan, the North Herts Young Walkers can positively contribute towards the current Ramblers membership campaign.
