Help Protect Dorset!

The Ramblers' Association in Dorset have been campaigning hard as part of a coalition of local groups, to stop a damaging road proposal which would destroy some of our most beautiful countryside.

As far back as February 2005 a Planning Inspector recommended the Weymouth Relief Road should be deleted from the local plan. The Inspector said that the road would have a "seriously detrimental impact on a nationally designated landscape." West Dorset Council has rejected this recommendation and want to give the road the go-ahead.

Dorset County Council has made some minor changes to the design of its proposed Weymouth Relief Road and has decided to withdraw the current Planning Application and publish a new one. This means that existing letters of objection are no longer valid.
