A simpy stunning walk through Rothiemurchus forest, a remnant of the ancient Caledonian pine forest, to Loch an Eilein, an extremely beautiful freshwater loch south of Aviemore.
We will walk from Inverdruie and pass the Lily Loch, named so because of the spectacular display of water lilies in the summer, following good tracks to the minor road to Loch an Eilein.
The views across the loch to the island with it's ruined castle are stunning and if the weather permits, we'll enjoy lunch on the lochside enjoying the views. We will return by a slightly different route.
The walk is on good tracks with negligible ascent but please note the walk could be shortened if the paths are icy.
Newomers and families are very welcom to join us for this lovely walk. Walking boots, waterproofs and warm clothing are essential. Please bring a morning snack, hot drink, packed lunch and dress for the weather.
