A hilly walk in the Chilterns to the northwest of Great Missenden via the South Bucks Way, Dunsmore, Bacombe Hill, Coombe Hill, Ellesborough, Beacon Hill, Buckmoorend, Little Hampden and Prestwood. Lunch stop at 'The Russell Arms', Butler's Cross for drinks but bring food with you. (Note: This walk is a late replacement for the 13 mile circular walk to the west of Great Missenden via the Hampdens which was to have been led by Gabriel N to highlight the damage to the walking in the area which will be caused by the construction of HS2 and has not been surveyed) Map: E181, L165.

17-18 mile linear to Goring & Streatley Station mainly following the Chiltern Way Southern Extension. In the morning we traverse Crowsley Park with its fine Jacobean Manor House and continue across the plateau to Chazey Heath and our lunch stop at 'The Pack Saddle at Mapledurham' pub (but bring own food). We then descend through woodland to the picturesque, Thames-side village of Mapledurham, climb out of the Thames Valley with fine views and continue across upland interspersed with woodland before more fine views herald another descent into the Thames Valley at Goring. Linear to Marden Station. A flattish walk to the south of the stations on both paths and minor roads. Lunchtime refreshment at 'The Peacock' pub in Iden Green (a mile and a half east of Goudhurst on the A262). We pass a low security prison in the morning and peculiarly-shaped fruit trees in the afternoon. Joint walk with South Bank Group. Map: E136, L188.

Linear to Chelmsford Station over varied countryside with something for everyone. Along the River Chelmer and through woods and sandy commons to the hilltop town of Danbury, built on the site of a Neolithic or Early Iron Age fort noted for its oval shape. After a lunch stop at the 'Cricketer's Arms' pub (or bring picnic), we walk through the Humphrey Repton-landscaped grounds of Riffhams and down Graces Walk, before following the winding river into the pleasant town of Chelmsford. Section of Capital Ring along Grand Union Canal towpath, followed by steep climbs up Horsenden Hill and Harrow-on-the-Hill, then school buildings of Harrow School. Through extensive birch woodland, including the 2.5 mile length of Thorndon Country Park, to East Horndon (drop-out to West Horndon Station). Then across the flat Essex coastal plain, wth its numerous dykes and wide skyscapes, via Bulphan and Orsett. Lunch stop possibly near a pub for drinks (perhaps 'The Railway Hotel, West Horndon) but no guarantee, so bring picnic. Map: E163/175, L177.
