A regular short walk from Wantage held on the third Thursday of every month. This month we will follow the canal through East Challow to West Challow and then return via Childrey. No pub stop but we aim to be back in Wantage in time for lunch. Wantage has a variety of eating places. Wantage is reachable directly by bus from Oxford, Abingdon, Didcot, and Faringdon. Pub stop at the end.

Walk starts at Goring Lock. For river trip to Goring meet at Wallingford Riverside car park (fee payable) by 9:40 for steamer at 9:45. Steamer cost £8.60 (for seniors). Cruise down the Thames to Goring and walk back to Wallingford along Ridgeway. Bring packed lunch.

NOTE, this walk is 13 miles long. The booklet is incorrect. Starting from Compton High Street we walk up quiet Cheeseridge Road, and follow tracks and paths to Hampstead Norreys. From there we follow paths to skirt Ashampstead and on to Aldworth, where we will have lunch at The Bell. After that we follow more tracks back to Compton. There is ample parking in housing estate roads near the start. Pub stop.

Mainly fieldpaths with some quiet roads from Thornhill Park & Ride, via Forest Hill and Stanton St John, past Grade I-listed Woodperry House (with rare breeds farm) to Beckley (lunch, Abingdon Arms). Good rural Oxfordshire views. Return on fieldpaths to Barton, roads and path back to Thornhill. Bus friendly or park at Park & Ride (charges apply). Pub stop.

Easy day's walking through mainly flat farmland enlightened by the interesting estate at Tusmore. Lunch in Bucknell Trigger Pond pub. Contact leader 2 weeks in advance to arrange transport.
