Help us safeguard access to Britain’s coastline for future generations

Did you know that in England and Wales, there is no general right to walk along the coast and on beaches?
With the publication of the Marine and Coastal Access Bill this is set to change. The Bill, which was confirmed in the Queen's Speech last December, is great news both for walkers and the rural economy and will create a public right of access right around the coast of England, linking up beaches, the foreshore and cliff tops. The Ramblers believes that as an island nation the coastline is part of our heritage and something that people from all walks of life have an affinity with. We are campaigning for a legal right of access to safeguard our coastline and beaches for future generations.
The Bill is now proceeding through Parliament, starting in the House of Lords. We need to make sure that we are exerting pressure on the Minister, Huw Irranca-Davies, and MPs to ensure that this vital piece of legislation becomes law as quickly as possible.
