How your membership helps

Lake view

As a member of the Ramblers you’ll be part of an organisation which represents and campaigns for the interests of all walkers in Britain. You will be directly contributing to our work to protect and expand the places people walk and promote walking for health and pleasure.

With the help of our members, in the last year we have:

  • saved over 800 paths from being blocked, closed or badly diverted
  • encouraged over 88,000 people to start walking and discover its many health benefits
  • safeguarded 140,000 miles of public path and 1 million hectares of open access land in England and Wales

But there’s still a long way to go. Together we will:

  • continue our important charitable work – we’ve achieved huge successes over the years but there’s still much more to do. By supporting our local or national campaigns, you can help to make a real difference to the millions of people like you who enjoy the outdoors.
  • create better walking opportunities for all - as well as protecting hundreds of paths from closure or diversion, we’ll be working to tackle the effects local funding cuts are having on the path network.
  • support our volunteers - over 25,000 volunteers dedicate their time to help us carry out our work. Volunteers run our areas and groups and get involved in activities ranging from organising walks to carrying out path maintenance.
