What's happening at Balloch Castle Country Park?
Everyone is welcome at a fun-filled celebration of all things walking at our lochside marquee beneath Balloch Castle.
Exciting activities include group led walks, talks, free local route maps, expert advice and games!
How do I attend?
Just turn up! Volunteers at our Welcome Tent will be happy to take your details and guide you through the activities and walks on offer.
There’s something for everyone, whether you’re an experienced walker or maybe taking your first steps. Details of all the walks you can join during the event can be found here.
For a few of our longest led walks, we’d like you to speak with walk leaders before the event. These walks are clearly labelled in the link above.
**Download the programme for the day!**
What to expect
We’ll run 20 led walks throughout the day – ranging from gentle 15-minute strolls to day-long hill hikes.
Activities at the marquee kick off at 10am with a brief talk from mountaineer and Forestry Commission Scotland staff member James Ogilvie. He’ll describe his 20-year journey from being a regular hillwalker to climbing the highest peaks on each of world’s seven continents.
We’ll have expert advice all day from partners including Cotswold Outdoors and Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park rangers – as well as games for children and the young at heart!
If you prefer to walk independently or with your friends and family, you can pick up free Ramblers Routes maps, including short Medal Routes, for beautiful walks straight from the marquee.
And if you’re thirsty after all your walking, please join us at Balloch House Hotel on the main street for informal drinks from 5.00pm.
