20 mile walk - Self-guided

O Glyn 

Starting off easy, you will be able to enjoy the scenic farmland along The Cambrian Way. Once you pass The Arch / Y Bwa you enter the beautifully wild Ystwyth Forest and expect some steep climbs. 

Following the Ystwyth River down the Cwmystwyth Valley you will be able to enjoy the stunning scenery of the fords, waterfalls and a bounty of wildlife. Your challenge becomes harder with a steep downhill track, before you pass through farmland. Then you'll take a mighty valley climb enjoying spectacular views of the lakes of Devil’s Bridge before your final leg back to basecamp (Tynrhyd Retreat).

 

This route is suited for the more experienced walker, you will navigate yourself through the sweeping moorland and forest paths of the stunning landscape famous by the award winning S4C/BBC Wales TV detective series Y Gwyll/Hinterland.

All routes will be fully marshalled and the event will be supported by Brecon Mountain Rescue Team.

Can I bring a dog?

Yes you can, but please keep your dog under control at all times. Please be mindful that the route includes numerous stiles, which your dog may need help getting over.

 

Do I need to be able to read a map?

You'll need to navigate around the route using a map. The route will also be signposted and marshalled.

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll received a full information pack on sign up. Packing your rucksack with food and drink, appropriate clothing and a personal first aid kit would be a good start. Don't forget your walking boots too.

There is plenty of accommodation locally, and on sign up you will have access to a whole range of discounts including accommodation and attractions.
