Linear to Sudbury Station over undulating countryside through the Stour Valley designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Lamarsh, Great Henny and Bulmer Tye. On the approach to Sudbury you cross the Sudbury Common Lands, a traditional pastoral landscape which has the longest recorded history of continuous grazing in East Anglia and should have a splendid display of buttercups at this time of year. Sudbury itself is an ancient market town which dates back to Saxon times and was the birthplace of 18th centuary portrait painter Thomas Gainsborough.
