Sunday, 7 May 2017
Meeting time: 9:30
Start time: 9:30
Uffington/Haughmond Hill/Haughmond Abbey/Sunderton and Sundorne Castle. 8 .5 miles moderate. The route follows the Shropshire Way to cross The Shropshire Union Canal and to then tackle the short, steepish ascent to the summit of this much loved Hill. Haughmond is only 503 feet (153 metres) high but the views of Shrewsbury and surrounding area are truly spectacular in clear weather.. Then along the top to the abbey, through Haughmond Farm to Sunderton and Sundorne Castle, to finish in Uffington. Some of the paths can be muddy. But otherwise the walk is on mainly level good tracks and quiet lanes. Refreshments can be enjoyed at The Corbet Arms.
