Meeting time: 9:05
Start time: 10:00
Moderate 11 miles / 17.7 km
A walk in the Suffolk countryside, which has a changed route with the replacement leaders. Originally to be led by Stephen Northrop, the substitute walk starts in the same place and retains the option of a pub lunch at The Rampant Horse with its local Calvors’ beers, as selected by Stephen.
The walk is a figure of eight, approximately 7.5 miles in the morning, returning to the start point for lunch and dropping off those wishing to eat in the pub which is a short walk from the Needham Lakes car park. The afternoon is around 3.5 miles and starts from the same place as the morning walk in the car park. Please note that the Rampant Horse definitely does not allow walkers to eat their own lunch in the pub garden, whether or not drink is purchased.
Although weather dependent, there are toilets and picnic tables in the Needham Lakes area, plus the operator of the ‘Peter's’ Ice Cream kiosk is open and also provides tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cold drinks.
Colchester-based walkers can meet in the usual Gun Hill lay-by to share car/s and depart by 9:10am.
