Strenuous 26 miles / 41.8 km
Meet BLACKHEATH station 8.34 (Victoria 8.09, Lewisham 8.32; or Charing Cross 8.09, Lewisham 8.27).
A linear walk of about 26 miles to Charing Cross at a brisk pace, following the annual London Marathon course but away from traffic, mainly along the Thames Path with views of many London landmarks.
Two halfhour breaks after 9 and 19 miles, both with public toilets; one further toilet break. Both stops have food concessions but bring plenty of water and food.
This is an urban walk, so trainers are advisable. Walking time is around 7.5 hours.

General notes on Blackheath Walks
Starting Times: Please, even if travelling by car, before travelling check train times with TfL (034 3222 1234; www.tfl.gov.uk) or National Rail (03457 48 49 50; www.nationalrail.co.uk).
When a choice of routes is given (marked 'or' in the Meet instructions above), use the less affected, and if in doubt check with the leader.
Lunch: Lunch on full day walks is usually about 1 hour (or as considered appropriate by the leader on the day) at a public house.

Dogs: Some walks are unsuitable for dogs; please check with the leader before bringing one.
'Strenuous' walks: any Blackheath walk over 12 miles is categorised as Strenuous, as these walks are ‘brisk’ by general standards. Please contact the walk leader if you have any queries about the walk.
