Travel: Take the 09:52 from Kings Cross (Finsbury Park 09:58) arrives Hitchin at 10:22. Return trains from Hitchin are 4 per hour: 00 and 30 minutes past the hour (fast) 06 and 36 minutes past the hour (slower)
A pretty walk in unspoilt countryside to the SW of Hitchin. We will head via alleyways and Windmill Hill to hit the open countryside just north of the village of Charlton. From Charlton we head WSW to Pinnacle Hill before going S via Austage End to Ley Green and the opportunity of a lunchtime drink at the Plough (please bring a packed lunch). We then head NNE via byways back to Charlton and retrace our steps to Hitchin Station. Possibility of post-walk drink at a Pub in Hitchin. Dogs welcome.
