Start time: 10:30
(Estimated finish time: 14:00)
Moderate 8 miles / 12.9 km
The walk takes us past Leathley Hall, crosses a meadow, meet Thrispin Beck. A working pole would assist crossing the beck. We continue through Riffa Wood, crossing three meadows to the top of a small hill where we stop for a tea/coffee break. On a clear day, we will have a spectacular view across the valley and the wonderful Arthington Viaduct. Our path takes us on to Stainburn Church which is the ideal place to stop for lunch. From the church, we continue up a quiet country lane and down Stainburn Gill, which is rocky and may be a bit slippery if wet. Again a walking pole will assist. Our path continues towards Lindley Green, with splendid views across the valley before descending to the River Washburn at Lindley Bridge. The path passes a Trout farm and stream before meeting the river again to and continues to our a starting point. This is a walk one never tires of repeating.
