> Toilets at Lyme Park. Bring a Packed Lunch and liquid refreshment.
> Start at 10 a.m. (Strict) from the C.P. Tom Brads Croft (Turn into Canal Street, Opposite the Rail Station) The C.P is at the end of Canal Street. SK012816. Parking on the Road as well.
> Walk description:-
> First Part: starts along the Canal to Furness Vale then up to the A6 to pass the Soldier Dick Pub turning to climb up to Redmoor Fm. Crossing over the Disley Rd we head to Parkgate, to skirt to Park onto the Macc Canal and crossover near Hagg Fm up to Way Green and into Lyme Park to the toilets.
> Second Part:
> We climb up via Knights Wood to leave the Park at Bowstones on to the Gritstone Way and Sponds Hill. Turning S.E. and down to cross over the Disley Rd and along to Bailey's Fm and along to Toddbrook Rsv. To return to the C.P some 600 yds. away.
> Lyme Park granted to Sir Thomas D'anyers in 1346 for rescuing the Black Prince's Standard at the Battle of Crécy. Then the Legh family in 1398 re marriage. Lyme Hall. Eventually donated to the National Trust in 1946;
> We visit the ancient boundary site of Bow Stones on Sponds Hill. We might be lucky to see the Deer in the park and excellent views of the Cheshire countryside: on a fine day.
