The third and final part of the Greater Avon Valley Way is from Bristol to Portishead. We meet outside the main entrance to Temple Meads station at 9.00. The route passes the M Shed and the SS Great Britain on its way out of Bristol before the day’s first climb leads us up Nightingale Valley to the main part of Leigh Woods. We continue through Abbots Leigh and Failand before reaching our lunch stop in Clapton-in-Gordano. Soon after, we cross Weston Moor to undertake our last climb from Weston-in-Gordano. The route then descends to Redcliff Bay from where we follow the coast path to the end of the Way at Battery Point in Portishead. We return to Bristol by bus.
