Llangoed and Penmon
Tuesday, 20 March 2018
Start time: 10:00
Moderate 8 miles / 12.9 km
This moderate walk is through the beautiful countryside of south eastern Anglesey. It takes in several nature reserves, the remains of Lligwy castle, the ancient settlement at Penmon Priory and the iconic coastal scenery at Penmon point. There will be an opportunity to explore quiet paths and appreciate the breathtaking scenery of the Menai Straits and mountains of Snowdonia. You will gain an understanding of how the striking geology of this area created an important quarrying industry in the past and why it continues to attract visitors today. You will also walk through a secluded wooded valley on a path which has been improved by the Silver Slashers footpath volunteers. This is a varied and popular walk through an area you may not have seen at such close quarters. The full walk will take approximately 5 hours to complete, although there are opportunities to take short cuts for those who prefer a shorter walk
