Leisurely 5.4 miles / 8.7 km
A leisurely graded and paced, 5.4 mile walk starting from the car park of the Squire Yorke pub (permission obtained). After a short stretch of quiet lane we follow the course of the Afon Clywedog across pastureland and then pick up the Wat’s Dyke Way to take us to the Motte and Bailey in Big Wood. After, we drop back down to have a look at the impressive Cup and Saucer, inflow for the 19th century hydraulic ram before continuing on through Erddig Park to Middle Sontley. Another short lane section takes us via a bridleway, back through The Rockery at Erddig and Forest Wood and then on to The Squire Yorke for an optional lunch.
Car park of the Squire Yorke pub, Sontley Road, Wrexham.
This is a circular walk
