Start time: 11:00
(Estimated finish time: 15:30)
Moderate 8 miles / 12.9 km
A walk up the Sugar Loaf from Llanbedr.
The car park by the changing rooms at Pontcanna Fields - not by the Café. As there is very limited parking in Llanbedr, please car share as much as possible if coming from Cardiff. If not enough car parking space in Llanbedr, we may have to consider parking a few cars in Crickhowell.

Llanbedr, to the north of Crickhowell. There are a couple of cul-de-sacs that may have space in the village. Meet outside St Peter's Church.
To get to Llanbedr, head towards Crickhowell. Once in Crickhowell, there are 2 roads leading to Llanbedr.
Please note; the A465 Heads of the Valleys road is closed at Gilwern. I'd advise either taking the A40/A4042 to Abergavenny - then to Crickhowell, or the A4560 Llangynidr Road from the A465.

This is a circular walk
This walk heads from Llanbedr initially passing through by a stream, through woods & through fields. After a short distance along country lanes, we head up the Sugar Loaf. The route from this direction follows a steady gradient upwards with a few false summits. Weather dependent, there are great views fromthe top of the Sugar Loaf. We then pass down on a steeper path, following a boundary path toreturn to the lanes & head back to Llanbedr. Please note - dogs welcome but may need to be kept on leads at certain points as there are sheep in the fields & on the common land around the Sugar Loaf.
Ascent: 593 m / 1946 feet
