Joint walk with South Bank group
9 miles, moderate pace, gentle hills, woods, fields and hopefully bluebells and wild flowers
Route: Sussex Border Path – Merchant Wood – Motts Mill – Groombridge Place – Broadwater Warren (now a RSPB reserve) – Eridge Rocks (last few remaining sandstone crop in South East).
Attraction: Groombridge Place – Birds of Prey display (free). Groombridge Place garden has an entrance fee but not outside house and moat. A chance to drop out early to visit gardens or even Spa Valley Heritage Railway.
Food: Pub (Junction Inn) at Groombridge or picnic. Children’s playground opposite and with shelter, too!
Drop-out points: Groombridge Place (buses leave outside Junction Inn pub to Tunbridge Wells)
Travel: 10.08 London Bridge, 11.03 Eridge; or 10.00 Clapham Junction and change at East Croydon for 10.22 Uckfield train to Eridge. Trains from Clapham Junction to East Croydon are sometimes delayed and thus best to catch an earlier train as you may have to change platforms
