Joint walk with Southbank group
10 miles, moderate pace, easy going but not on roads, woods, some grassy and bracken paths. One short steep hill up Petersham Meadow. A figure of 8 walk. This walk goes through some woods and bracken thus appropriate walking shoes advisable.
Route: Richmond station – Petersham Meadow – Richmond Gate – Pen Ponds – Isabella Plantation – Pembroke Lodge – Sidmouth Wood – Pen Ponds – White Lodge – East Sheen Gate – North Sheen station
Attractions: Deer in park and hopefully azaleas and rhododendron in full bloom at Isabella Plantation. (Bring your cameras)
Food: Pembroke Lodge (NT café) or café outside. Picnic on steps overlooking the Thames
Drop-out points: Pembroke Lodge, walk to Richmond station or taxi
Start: 10.30 outside Richmond station (if raining, wait inside station). Overground, District Line or SWR trains
Finish: North Sheen station (SWR)
Ticket: Oyster Card / Freedom Pass
Note: Royal Parks now charge for toilets, except for Isabella Plantation and Pembroke Lodge cafes
