This long walk in north-west Hampshire progesses from Ibthorpe on part of theTest Way, then to Upton and to lunch at The George in Vernham Dean. After lunch we we return to Ibthorpe by paths and roads north of Upton.
For those who like long views, this walk offers them but there are some uphill sections, especially from Upton to Vernham Dean.
The walk is 6.4 miles in the morning and 5.1 miles in the afternoon. The route was muddy in places on our planning walks but we can get around them. There are alternative paths in a few places but there has been a lot of rain
Parking is Hurstbourne Tarrant Royal British Legion Club car park. The time from central Winchester is 35-40 minutes, although you might give extra time time for weekday traffic on A34/303. If you are coming to Hurstbourne Tarrant from Andover you will see signs for Ibthorpe, Upton and Vernham Dean on the left soon after you descend into the village. Parking is 400 yeards on right along along that road. Please park close together. We will leave promptly at 10am so please be on time.
