Route: Leigh – Penshurst Place and village – River Medway – Stockland Green – Royal Tunbridge Wells
Note: Celebrate midsummer with a visit to Penshurst Place House and Gardens, and walk through a landscape of great beauty with fine views, followed by woodland and parks to Royal Tunbridge Wells.
A stop of 2 to 2 ½ hours is planned at Penshurst Place, weather permitting, to enable us to explore the magnificent park and gardens and visit this 14th century manor house. Ticket price £11.50 for House and Gardens and £9.50 for Gardens and Park only. Free entry to Gardens for RHS members; take EH card for a reduction on entry to House
Food: Picnic / café at Penshurst Place. Early supper at Tunbridge Wells for those who would like to eat out (ETA 6.30pm)
Drop-out points: 231 / 233 buses run from the bottom of Smart’s Hill, a 10-minute walk from Penshurst, to Tunbridge Wells or Edenbridge
