Leisurely 6 miles / 9.7 km
A leisurely graded and paced, 6.0 mile walk starting from The Poachers pub car park (permission obtained) off the Chirk Road, Weston Rhyn.The walk takes us along the Maelor Way footpath and includes short sections of quiet lane before reaching Ifton Meadows nature reserve which we pass through to pick up the Shropshire way footpath before reaching the old mining village of St. Martin’s where we will pass The Miners Memorial Garden with a short coffee break and St. Martin’s church and The Pinfold (a stone pen in which lost animals used to be placed until claimed). After another short section of footpath, we reach the Llangollen Canal which we then follow back to The poachers for an optional lunch for anyone interested.
