A leisurely/moderate walk of approx. 11 scenic miles, with one small hill and taking in the regeneration of heavily quarried areas three miles off the old A1.
Meet in the large car park of St. Aidan’s RSPB nature reserve. The fee of £3 is waived but if you use the toilet, indoor seating and/or tea facilities a donation would be appreciated. Take A1M north until the Ferrybridge Services turning. Follow the A162, then straight on at first roundabout to follow what becomes A1246, straight over at second roundabout and at third roundabout take first exit onto Silver Street towards Fairburn. Follow the road, straight on through the traffic lights, then turn right at mini-roundabout and take third left turn just after Edward VII WMC (in Great Preston) on to Leeds Road. After about 400 metres, turn left into signposted reserve car park.
