Get Walking Week is our short walks festival designed to help the nation discover the wonder of walking.
Only a third of us are active enough but it doesn’t have to be this way – walking is an easy and fun way to improve health and wellbeing and it’s free too, all you need is a good pair of shoes to get going.
To help us all get more active we’re encouraging everyone to get outside and get walking this May, whether it’s making short journeys on foot instead of in the car, making time for an after work stroll or planning a weekend walk with friends and family.
And we’ll be offering lots of ways for you start walking and keep doing it, whether its joining one of our local groups for a short walk near you during Get Walking Week, trying one of our free to download short walking routes or testing out one of our Medal Routes in Scotland.
Walking for Health, which we run with Macmillan Cancer Support, are also inviting people across England to join short, free and friendly walks with local Walking for Health schemes during Get Walking Week, designed to help you get walking and stay active.
Get Walking Week is supporting Britain on Foot, a call to encourage more people in Britain to get active in the great outdoors.
