Pang Valley

Walking in Berkshire Oxfordshire and the Thames Valley 4.jpg

Group name: Pang Valley

This group is a part of Berkshire Area.

Our activities include:
Dog-friendly walks, Family-friendly walks, Path maintenance, Short and easy walks

The Pang Valley runs from lower Berkshire Downs to the Thames at Pangbourne and our members come from adjacent areas including Caversham and Tilehurst. One of the medium sized groups in Berkshire, we are a very friendly crowd; eager to welcome anyone new to walking or to Ramblers. 28 experienced walk leaders lead varied walks in the North Wessex and Chilterns Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty along ancient tracks over the downs, footpaths through Chiltern Beechwoods, across farmland and along the Pang Valley itself.

We walk each Sunday and the second and last Wednesday of each month. Sunday walks tend to be longer although a shorter walk is usually offered. Wednesday walks are about 5 miles, frequently with the option of a convivial post-walk pub lunch. Hopefully, the introduction of 2 to 2½ mile walks will appeal to both our current members and those new to walking.

We produce three Walks Programmes and Newsletters a year covering events from December to March, April to July and August to November. Altogether we offer in the region of 100 walks of varying grades a year. In addition to our walks we have an active social calendar and we arrange two holidays a year: a week abroad and an autumn weekend in this country.
