Walking in the South Hams

Access to four distinctly different scenery and terrain is what makes our South Hams so special. Walk with us and discover the coastal paths of South Devon, Dartmoor National Park just to the north, the glorious South Hams countryside in between and five beautiful estuaries that punctuate this southerly tip of Devon.

We enjoy some of the best walks along the South West Coast Path, from Noss Mayo in the west, around Salcombe at our southerly tip and to Dartmouth in the east.

Much of South Hams countryside is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty comprising of deep green valleys between soft rounded hills, native forests and rivers extending from springs on Dartmoor all the way to five glorious estuaries. Historic Totnes is the heart town of the South Hams.

Close by to the north we have the contrast of the wilderness of Dartmoor, which is so different it is like stepping into another country.

Our walks and walking community

We walk every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Starting at 10.30, walks vary in length from 5 to 12 miles. If you are local and never walked before do try us, you will be made welcome and helped onto a new path to adventures.  As one of the UK’s premier tourist areas any visiting national and international walkers are welcome to join us too.

With some more than 600 paths, ways and lanes there are walks to suit most abilities. So give us a try and you will find a friendly and sociable group with a varied social calendar of events.
