Swansea Ramblers on Rhosili Beach

Walking in Swansea

(and South Wales)

Our group has been walking in Swansea, Gower and the surrounding South Wales area for over 40 years.

We also travel further afield for weekends away and foreign holidays.

We always welcome new people to try a free walk with us.

Come see if you like walking with our friendly group!

After 3 FREE walks, you can decide to become a member.

Many people walk with us to:

  • Make new friends
  • Explore the countryside
  • Be in the safety of an experienced group of friendly walkers.

So many people tell us:
They never knew such lovely walks existed so close to where they live.

We have about 400 members who enjoy our varied walks.

We also have regular social activities.

See our social calendar for the events already planned.

Most walks end with a social in a pub or café and these are usually included in the walk description.

We offer a number of walks each week:

Saturdays:  Our most popular walks.
(6 miles which last about 3 hours).
We have a walk every Saturday.

Sundays: We have longer walks and occasional shorter ones.

Weekdays: We sometimes have a short, medium or long distance walk.

Shorter, taster walks: Watch out for some of our introductory walks.

Short evening walks:
(3-4 miles which last about 2 hours).
These are usually on summer evenings.
Ideal if you work during the day.

Details of our walks:

See our Walk listings for more detail about the walks and where you can meet us.

Our walking community

You’ll enjoy walking with us and will want to become a member.

As a member, you will begin to receive updates about walks and social events.

There are national and local discounts available at some walking outlets when you show your membership card.

You can use the Ramblers App as a Sat Nav to find start points and other details of our walks.

On the app, you also can select from thousands of quality-checked, self-led Ramblers Routes throughout Britain.

We work with the local council to maintain footpaths.
Our Path Maintenance Team has regular meetings to clear paths or install gates and bridges.

You can volunteer with us

If you fancy leading a walk, then we can help you learn what is involved.

Our Path maintenance team is always happy to welcome new volunteers.

There are also other ways to volunteer to help run the group.

Want to bring your dog?

You can bring a dog on many of our walks.

However, sometimes a walk is unsuitable for dogs.

The walk description will always say whether a walk is suitable for dogs.

To ensure the safety of walkers, we request that dogs are on short, non-extendible leads at all times.

(Dogs off leads or on extendible leads have been known to weave in between walkers' legs, causing broken limbs!)

So come along with your dog where the walk description welcomes them but please keep them on a short, non-extendible lead.
