Group name: Isle of Wight
This group is a part of Isle of Wight Area.
Our activities include:
Path maintenance, Dog-friendly walks, Family-friendly walks, Short and easy walks
The Isle of Wight Group of the Ramblers is a very successful, friendly and welcoming one. Our members, who number around 600, cover all ages, abiilties and interests. Our walks range from the short (around three miles) to the quite long (15 miles or even more) and the pace varies according to the route, so you should find it good. As a member you will get access to a programme of hundreds of walks on the Island every year, and there is an excellent local newsletter, WalkTalk, that comes out three times a year. We also arrange social events throughout the year which include Christmas lunch, a quiz night and a barbeque.
We help local people enjoy walking and protect the places that you love to tramp through. There are so many places on the island for you to explore including:
- Tennyson Down, Alum Bay and the Needles
- 72 miles of beautiful coast
- Lovely towns and villages including Shanklin, Ryde and Ventnor
- Carisbrooke Castle and its surroundings
- A succession of chalk downs going from one side of the island to the other
Companionship is a big component of what we are about, and being a Rambler is a great way to get outside, make new friends and discover how walking boosts your health and happiness. You’re very welcome to try walking with us, or to get involved in looking after paths and green spaces and opening up new places to explore.
