Walking in and around the Eildons

Whilst our home base is Melrose in the Scottish Borders, our membership is drawn from communities across the Borders area including Chirnside, Earlston, Galashiels, Hawick, Jedburgh, Kelso, Lauder and Selkirk.

Set up in 2013, the success of our group, now numbering over 100 members, reflects the friendly, sociable atmosphere you will find on all of our walks.

We offer a core programme of walks each weekend throughout the year ranging from leisurely low level to strenuous hill walks, at locations across the Scottish Borders.  We also offer shorter, easier walks on the first Tuesday of each month.

As our walks often pass through areas with free roaming livestock, we regret we do not allow dogs on any of our walks. Walkers who need an assistance dog please enquire of the walk leader if the walk is suitable.

Our walking community

Whether new to countryside walking or an experienced hillwalker, you will receive a warm welcome from our members. New walkers can enquire what clothing/equipment/supplies are appropriate by emailing walks@eildonramblers.org.uk.

Our walk leader volunteers are constantly looking for new interesting walks. New walk leader and back marker volunteers are very welcome and will receive support and guidance from existing volunteers.

In addition to our regular programme we arrange an away weekend with a range of walks across three days. In October 2023 we are planning a trip to the Hexham area. These trips are always a popular addition to our calendar.

Find us on Facebook and Twitter for photos and information on past and future walks. Our motto is Fun, Friendship, Fitness and Fresh Air – come and join us!
