A long line of walkers going up a hill.

Walking in and around Glasgow

Welcome to the Glasgow Ramblers group. We are a friendly walking group for people of all ages who enjoy walking in the countryside or the city with others who share their enthusiasm.

Glasgow, which in Gallic means “Dear Green Place”, is aptly named for the green spaces it offers the walker. Around Glasgow there are a huge number of quality walks accessible within an hour or so..

We provide walks suitable for people with different levels of experience and fitness. They are mostly on weekends with occasional mid-week walks. Weekend walks are typically 15-20 km (10-12 miles) and mid-week walks 5-10 km (3-6 miles).

We meet at Partick interchange or one of the main bus and train stations. Sometimes we use car sharing if that is more convenient.

Walk leaders (all volunteers) will have recently checked the walks and the public transport links. Walkers need to contact the walk leader in advance but then simply turn up and enjoy the walking, safe in the knowledge that the organisation and navigation is all taken care of.

This is one of the great benefits of Ramblers membership. Come and give us a try!
