Group name: Mansfield & Sherwood Walking Group
This group is a part of Nottinghamshire Area.
Our activities include:
Short and easy walks
Ramblers group for members in the Mansfield, Warsop, Sutton-in-Ashfield and Kirkby-in-Ashfield areas of the county. We cover a wide age range. Walks take place every Sunday with alternating short (4 - 6 miles) and longer walks (8 - 12 miles). Short walks are all local to the Mansfield area whilst the longer walks are mainly in the Peak District and surrounding area.
Short walks start from a variety of locations in and around Mansfield at 11am.
For the longer walks, we usually meet in the Car Park of the Black Bull PH on Woodhouse Road (A60), Mansfield NG18 2BQ at 9am (occasionally at other times - see programme). Walkers share cars to ensure minimum number of cars travel to start of walk. Anyone without a car is automatically offered a lift. Weekends away and social events are also organised, plus a once a month car free walk.
We also have regular walks that utilise public transport but can also be enjoyed by car drivers. These walks are linear and mainly start from Mansfield Bus or Railway Station. We use public transport to get to the start of the walk and then return at the end of the walk. Transport back to the start always passes the start point, enabling car drivers to do the walks as well.
The Group is closely connected with a local Walking for Health Scheme called "On Your Doorstep - Local Health Walks for Mansfield & Ashfield", which offers short health walks every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning.
All Ramblers groups help local people enjoy walking and protect the places we all love to walk. You’re very welcome to try walking with us, or to get involved in looking after paths and green spaces and opening up new places to explore.
