Group name: East Staffordshire
This group is a part of Staffordshire Area.
Our activities include:
Short and easy walks, Path maintenance
We are a friendly group based in East Staffordshire and we enjoy walking throughout the year in all sorts of places and conditions. It's a great way of meeting and making new friends, getting outside to boost our health and happiness and seeing the beautiful countryside all around us.
We offer a range of walks from short local walks on Friday mornings to medium and longer walks on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, which often venture into Derbyshire, Leicestershire and other parts of Staffordshire.
In addition to our walks we organise social activities such as our annual buffet in March, a day’s coach ramble to a more distant area, weekends away (recently in Derbyshire’s High Peak) and social evenings, including a skittles evening, fish & chip supper, Christmas lights walk, and a Christmas lunch which followed a brisk walk to work up an appetite.
Recent holidays have included a longer weekend away based on the Isle of Anglesey with coastal and Snowdonia walks and a thoroughly enjoyable week away in Andalucia, enjoying the sunshine in late autumn.
You are very welcome to join us on a few of our walks, to see if this is for you, before you decide to join the Ramblers, and you may also wish to get involved in looking after paths and green spaces and opening up new places to explore, which all helps to protect the places we all love to walk. A few of our members have recently become Volunteer Rangers for the National Forest Way, keeping the paths open for all to enjoy.
