Walking with dogs

The Ramblers encourages all walking groups to allow dogs on walks, although some walks aren’t ideal. Registered Assistance Dogs are allowed on any walk. Here are three alternative versions of proposed wording for insertion in the Additional notes section when uploading each walk. Use one option only – the first one is normally suggested.

  • Dogs should be kept under control and no more than one dog per walker please
  • Dogs should be kept on a lead throughout the walk and no more than one dog per walker please
  • Registered Assistance dogs only

Although the ultimate decision on whether to permit dogs lies with the individual walk leader, we don't want to give the impression that the Ramblers is not a dog friendly organisation.

Car share

Walk leaders may elect to include details of a time and meeting point for walkers interested in car sharing – the leader does not have participate. Some locations typically used are:

  • Horsell Rise street parking – TQ002595
  • Pyrford Common Road car park – TQ029591

Please be sure to inlude in the Staring point, Location details: "There can be no guarantee that car share places will be available for anyone arriving on foot or by bike"

Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults

The Ramblers safeguarding policy, procedures and guidelines for protecting children and vulnerable adults are reviewed on a regular basis. Please ensure that you are up-to-date with the latest version of the Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults toolkit.
