Our activities include:
Practical path work
Our Group helps local people enjoy walking and protect the places we all love to walk. We organise regular walks led by local experts. It's a great way to get outside, make new friends and discover how walking improves your health and well-being. You’re very welcome to try walking with us, or to get involved in looking after paths and access to public routes.
Typically, our quarterly programme consists of volunteer-led walks of various lengths, every Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the year; shorter evening walks in the summer; and social events as and when our volunteers arrange them. Group walking holidays are also becoming a regular feature in our annual calendar.
We have a car sharing scheme to help minimise our impact on roads and walk destinations. We also contribute to Ramblers objectives by offering training for map-reading and walk leading, and by supplying volunteer labour to local Councils to help them in their duty of path maintenance.
