(Important : Please arrive a bit early (at least 15mins) in case there are car parking issues. If you turn up at the last minute and the parking is full we will not have time to help you out).
From the car park we walk through Fontmell Wood, and then on to Ashmore Wood where the bluebells should be at their best. Next on to Ashmore village (the highest village in Dorset) where we will probably take lunch by the village pond. Last week there was a duck with 11 ducklings swimming around, as well as lots of tadpoles. After lunch we walk back up to Compton Airfield, and then towards Melbury Hill. Those who wish can walk to the top (Melbury Beacon), while the rest take a break. Then downhill to the village of Compton Abbas for a quick look around, followed by a climb back up to the start point.
There will likely be some muddy patches along the way.
Expect the usual 4050 brisk pace.
Bring drinks, snacks and a packed lunch to keep you going.
Fields may contain sheep or cows. There are several stiles.
No public toilets, but plenty of quiet forest.
No dogs except RAD.
